Our Story

Hi My name is Ethel Williams and I created “The Roosevelt Jamie Williams Foundation”. This foundation is in honor of my deceased son Roosevelt, who died from Leukemia and AIDS, and for my daughter Jamie who died of natural causes. My son suffered for 7 years, my family suffered as well, as do many others that are still living.

I know from personal experience that families face a financial disaster while going through loss or suffering. My family used our assets to obtain funds for medical services that most insurance companies will not cover. Through the love and support of my extended family, I was inspired to establish a foundation in my children’s honor. I want to be a source of love and comfort to others, so I am reaching out to you for your help.

Help me and my foundation change a terminally ill person’s way of life. I always believe to be happy, you must find a human need and help fulfill that need. My foundation’s need is you and your donations.

Our mission is to promote healing in all communities by providing relief and encouragement to those experiencing financial distress, physical illness, and a lack of proper direction due to inadequate education; as well as offering assistance in developing a plan that will help lead others to a better spiritual, physical, emotional and mental stability, in a healthy, well balanced environment.

I realize I need help from the public through donations or gifts. My experience has taught me that being under funded for any purpose is a guaranteed failure.

It is so important to get my foundation for the terminally ill and their families funded and operating successfully. We have wonderful programs for the many communities in need.

The Roosevelt Jamie Williams Foundation church and family learning center is waiting for funding. Our desire to be “hands on, personal care,” was motivated by experience with life’s trial and tribulations. I lived through heart felt trials, my own illness and near death experiences. I watched my son’s life slip away each day of the 7 years that he suffered with leukemia and AIDS.

Roosevelt was my second son, he had a wonderful education in the military since he was 11 years old. Roosevelt attended Carlsbad Army and Navy Military Institute in Carlsbad, California and The Rosewell Military Institute. Roosevelt graduated with honors in 1979, commissioned to 2nd lieutenant and given first duties aboard ship. I was so happy for him , he had made his first goal for his life.

He got married in 1983, two years later he was divorced , and was separated from his only daughter. He never got over the situation. Prior to his divorce Roosevelt was diagnosed with Leukemia of the blood cell and was discharged from the military. Roosevelt started to drink and engage in drugs very heavily. He never did well with failure, even as a child. That started a road to destruction, and of course this was hard on everybody. My family members turn their backs on the whole situation, no support at all.

We started making trips to church more often, it was my only peace and hope. After Roosevelt passed, I became very ill, I stayed ill for two and a half years both physically and mentally, but I got up and retreated my foundation. The family I had built within the foundation was still there waiting.

I soon traveled overseas to Germany/England to work with a European Trust based with the Bank of England and Bank of Scotland. I chose to work in classic car collections (1904-1952). I arranged the sale of 10 cars and headed back to the united states. I met with a few people that I knew were car collectors and some I had known for many years. When I became ill I entrusted the car deals into their hands, that was a huge mistake.

While I was in the hospital, they betrayed me and tried to raise 13.5 Million dollars against the cars. I was notified of these deals by accident when the banks called me. I knew nothing of the loans and therefore, my foundation was not funded. The group became angry with me and went to the internet to slander my name. The group called me a crook and claimed I was no good, it ultimately hurt the growth of the foundation and our relationships. I still struggle with that today.

I do believe with time we can over come and move forward. There are so many things the foundation can do to help so many.

As I saw that I was finally living again after the betrayal of friends, family and business partners, and getting use to Roosevelt being gone from our lives, my sweet girl Jamie passed away suddenly.

On July 28th 2009, my daughter came home from her office, to prepare for her only child Alexis Sleep over in Long Beach, Ca. Alexis was enrolled at Long Beach State College at the time. My daughter Jamie called me around 7:15pm that evening. We talked about our plans for the next day. Jamie and I were planning to fold brochures she had printed for her business. That was OUR LAST TALK, Jamie collapsed on the side of the bed, having a cup of lemon tea, she was holding her bible, reading 1 Kings Chapter 8.

Her autopsy showed no cause of death, she was “Just Gone.”

It took me over a year to stop going to her graveside, I was lost and looking for an answer to why. The hurt was so deep.

I was a mother of three, two boys and one girl. I have lost a son and my only daughter. I have my oldest son, he is a baptist minister who lives in Arizona.

In order to honor my children with this foundation I Need Your Help. This foundation is a need for the elderly and terminally ill who lack the financial status to live well in their last days. Help me in granting the honor in serving my community and my children’s legacy by donating to “The Roosevelt Jamie Williams Foundation.”

Your contributions are greatly appreciated.
